Republic of Suriname is the only IsDB Member Country from South America. The IsDB launched an Interim-Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) in November, 2013 during the visit of Vice President (Operations). Since the launching of Interim-MCPS for Suriname, two social sector projects i.e. 1) Health System Strengthening Project and 2) Reforming the Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) were approved, signed and are due to be declared effective before the IsDB Group Day. This represents a 113% achievement rate of the Interim-MCPS in its first year of implementation. Furthermore, other IsDB Group entities ICD and ITFC also became engaged with the country for the first time and it is expected that each of them will further engage with client during this event.

Expected Outcome(s) of the event

  • Increased awareness about IsDB products and Services offered to its member countries;
  • Showcase the successful implementation of Interim-MCPS by laying the foundation stone of the largest health facility of the country in a very short time span of one year  and preparation for the full-fledged Member Country Partnership Strategy in the coming year.
  • Engage with the private sector/ State Owned Enterprises through entities of the IsDB Group (PPP, ICD, ICIEC, ITFC, IRTI), to explore and initiate new business and investment opportunities.
