About the Event

Republic of Suriname is the only IDB Member Country from South America. After five years without any operations in country, the IDB Group re-engaged by launching an Interim-Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) in November, 2013 during the visit of Vice President (Operations). Since the launching of Interim-MCPS for Suriname, two social sector projects i.e. 1) Health System Strengthening Project and 2) Reforming the Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) were approved, signed and are due to be declared effective before the IDB Group Day.

This represents a 113% achievement rate of the Interim-MCPS in its first year of implementation. Furthermore, other IDB Group entities ICD and ITFC also became engaged with the country for the first time and it is expected that each of them will launch new projects during this event.
