About

The IDB Group will be having its 37th Annual Board of Governors Meeting in Khartoum, Sudan, from March 31 to April 5, 2012. In conjunction with this important event, ICD, ICIEC and ITFC will organize the “IDB Group Clients Day” on 31 March 2012 in Rotana Esslam Hotel, Khartoum, Sudan.

The main objective of this event is to present the entities financial performance for the year 1432H, knowledge sharing about activities in Sudan and other member countries and promote the IDB Group’s products and services in support of the private sector. Also, the event will seize the opportunity to meet with potential clients and stakeholders and at the same time understand and listen to any obstacles encountered in dealing with any of the IDB Group entities.

Furthermore, it will present an ideal occasion to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the major changes and economic developments underway in Sudan, to assess business, investment and projects opportunities, and to network with the decision-makers, industry leaders and experts. 

The “IDB Group Clients Day” is expected to bring together a select group of distinguished ICD, ITFC and ICIEC’ clients, CEO’s of local, regional and international financial institutes, CEOs of the prestigious local companies and holdings, senior local officials, senior manager of multilateral financial institutes, the elite of the local, regional and international investors and businessmen.

Currency and Exchange Rate

The official currency of Sudan is the Sudanese Pound. The exchange rate of USD 1 = SDG 2.88 as of 10/1/2012. Banknotes are available in five denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 coins in 10, 20, and 50. Foreign currencies can be exchanged in banks, bureaus de change and in major hotels.

Travelling to Khartoum

Visa

Except for Syrian nationals, an entry visa is required for entry in Sudan (the passport shall be valid for at least six months at the date of arrival).

·Participants coming from countries where Sudan has a diplomatic mission are issued with visas by the Embassy/Consulate. They are required to submit visa applications together with the IDB letter confirming their participation in the Annual Meeting.

·Participants coming from countries where Sudan has no diplomatic mission are requested to upload a photocopy of their passport and a photograph during registration. They should also indicate their arrival and departure dates as well as flight number. The Secretariat of the Annual Meeting will coordinate with the Sudanese authorities regarding the issuance of entry visa upon arrival at Khartoum international airport and inform the participant accordingly.

N.B: Visa to Sudan in connection with the Annual Meeting is issued free of charge.

Flights to and from Khartoum

A number of airlines fly to and from Khartoum international airport. Participants are requested to make their own bookings and travel arrangements to and from Khartoum.The Travel Desk at Al Sadaka International Conference Center will assist the participants in confirming their return flights.

Private Jets

International Civil Aviation rules and regulations on private jets must be strictly observed. Participants should provide the Annual Meeting Secretariat with the flight details (crew and the estimated time of arrival) in advance to facilitate the arrangements of receiving the persons on board such flights.

Airport Reception

Protocol officers will receive all participants at Khartoum International Airport and escort them to their respective hotels. Protocol officers will help participants clear their luggage at the airport and transfer it to the hotel.  To facilitate baggage claim at Khartoum International Airport, participants are kindly requested to stick the tags sent to them on their luggage.

Health Requirements

Participants from countries where yellow fever and meningitis are endemic will be required to produce vaccination certificates.

Prohibited Items

Travelers to Sudan are not allowed to bring in prohibited items such as narcotics, alcoholic drinks, fire arms, ammunition.
